Client wanted to draw a totally new audience to their online publication, which covers environmental news for southern New England. We developed a new event concept and promotion plan, and needed to get the word out wide and fast.
Solution: PR + Event Marketing
Working closely with the client and the ecoRI News editorial team, we masterminded a happy hour speaker series that leveraged a hot topic with broad appeal to their core readership along with many potential new readers. We shaped the focus of the event, suggested speakers for the event panel, and created content for the event’s Media Kit. We also reached out to event sponsors and created social media updates targeted to drive ticket sales. The result was a successful PR Campaign with attendance at capacity for the event.
+ We sold out the very first event at AS220 in Providence, RI.
+ The event exposed our client to a new audience who was not already reading their publication.
+ Seven members of the media attended the event, which led to several pieces of event coverage.
+ We secured media sponsorship for the event to offset costs and partner with brands that the new audience already knew and trusted. We sold multiple sponsorships on behalf of the client, so the event actually turned a profit.
+ We earned 29 total media mentions, not including post-event coverage. Widespread media coverage significantly drove ticket sales and reduced the need for paid advertising.
